Maurice Gilbert CEO & Driving force behind Gilbert Murphy – Irish Apple Cider Vinegar with Honey and Irish Apple Cider Vinegar.
What inspired you to join the natural health sector?
For the past number of years, we have concentrated on Apple Cider Vinegar, production, presentation and sales due to our interest in the “Natural Wellness” that surrounds our products.
Where did you get the idea for your brand?
My surname is Gilbert and my business partners surname is Murphy. We have worked together for the past 26yrs on various projects.
What makes your brand unique?
We use 100% Irish cider from 100% Irish apples. No additives, sugar or water, in a computerised controlled environment, to create our Award-Winning Irish Apple Cider Vinegar and Irish Apple Cider Vinegar with Honey – “Natural Healer”.
What are your company’s core values?
Production of Natural Wellness Products, while being completely sympathetic to the Environment. No waste, glass bottles, wooden reusable bins, low carbon footprint, in our fermenting process, bottling and packaging are all on site at our premises.
How do you support your community?
Part of our premises is used by community groups for various events during the year. We have an “Open Gate” policy. Visitors are welcome at all times. We partner with local schools in the area for work experience.
What has been the most rewarding part of your brands journey?
Blas na hEireann and Great Taste Awards are very welcome, however the ongoing support from our ever-growing customer base, and spreading a little wellness is the real reward.
What in your opinion makes Irish brands unique?
The quality of the raw materials, apples naturally irrigated by rainfall, you can’t get better. Care and attention in Irish producers – to the core.
What is your favourite product from your brand?
Recently we developed Irish Apple Cider Vinegar with Honey. So far, it has received Silver at Blas na hEireann Awards and 2 Star at Great Taste Awards. Testaments from the industry experts, it first class. Irish Apple Cider Vinegar with Honey gives the opportunity for people to experience Apple Cider Vinegar in a pleasant tasting blend (it’s the “bee knees”) is a rewarding feeling.
Tell us about something that has shaped your brand?
A love of food and food production from a young age, it made the transition form construction to beverage production very easy. When the collapse in the construction industry forced a career change some 14 years ago.
What do you hope to accomplish in the future?
We hope to grow our health and wellness range to include raw materials, apples, oatmeal, Apple Cider Vinegar with Honey. We are also developing Irish Herbal Teas and associated Natural Wellness Products.
